- Thank you for trying WinDXmon!! I hope you find it
- useful. This is a beta release of the software
- and I know that there is room for a lot of improvement.
- If you have any suggestions, questions or comments,
- please let me know via email address eighmy@scott.net.
-
- Installation :
-
- Run Setup to install. The best way to do this is by
- clicking Start, then Settings, then Control Panel,
- then Add/Remove Software.
-
- WinDXmon is a native 32 bit application and will not
- run with Windows 3.xx. It may run ubder Windows 3.11
- if you install win32 but I have not verified this.
-
- Known problems :
-
-
- - Fonts : Selecting a different font only efffects
- the "TTY" window.
-
- Instructions:
-
- The intent of this program is to make monitoring
- a DXCluster as simple as possible. The alpha version
- of WinDXmon is pretty basic. The only things
- you can change are the communications parameters
- and the font type for the "TTY" window. Defaults
- for communications are COM1, 9600 baud, 8 data
- bits, no parity, and 1 stop bit. The com port and
- baud are stored in an "ini" file and recalled the
- next time you run the program. When you run the
- program for the first time, you will need to select
- the com port and baud rate appropriate for your TNC.
-
- The "TTY" window is the only area of the screen you
- can type in. Log in to your DX Cluster in the normal
- way or don't log in at all. Either way, DX spots and
- Announcments are displayed in the memo boxes. You can
- scroll back both the DX Window and Announcement Window
- and the "TTY" window to look at older spots and
- announcements by pressing PageUp and PageDown. To return
- to normal operation, hit the End key.
-
- New Features :
-
- Version 0.5 Beta
-
- This release of WinDXmon includes a "no set" clock that
- displays GMT in the lower right hand corner. The clock
- routine uses the system settings stored in the system
- registry of your computer. As long as you have properly
- set the timezone and time correctly, the time displayed
- will have the proper offset. If the time displayed is
- not the proper GMT value and the normal or local time is
- set properly, you must run Control Panel to correct your
- timezone.
-
- Quick Buttons are another added feature of this release.
- They allow you to send frequently used key sequences such
- as "C DX" or "SH/DX" by pressing the appropriate button.
- To program these buttons, use File|Quick Button Setup.
- A dialog box will appear and allow you to select one of
- the 14 buttons and enter a button text, send string,
- Carridge Return, and Control-C. All modifications are
- stored in an ini file and read the next time you run
- WinDXmon.
-
- Version 0.6 Beta
-
- Problems occured when users had another application using
- Com 1. Error protection was added in addition to an
- "OpenCom" menu item.
-
-
- If you have any additional questions, drop me some
- email and I'll get back to you ASAP.
-
- IMPORTANT : The intent of this program is to aleviate
- the burden on the DX Cluster, NOT TO GET OUT OF PAYING
- CLUB DUES FOR THE UPKEEP OF THE DX CLUSTER! I wrote
- this program because at times, especially during contests,
- my TNC times out and my buffer is filled with the latest
- four DX spots sent to 30 users... not fun when you
- have to log in every 15 minutes!
-
- You can still log into the Cluster with this program.
- It will still put DX spots in the "DX Window" and
- announcements in the "Announcements Window". That's
- a nice feature if want to keep all the "Broadcasters"
- comments seperate from the DX spots...
-
- WinDXmon for Windows 95 is not public domain
- software. I hold the copyright for this program and
- for all the documentation belonging to it. Please
- distribute the ZIP file in its entirety.
-

- one hits the cluster, VHF announce support, and other
- nice features.
